Bassing 15/6/08 Report

At silly o'clock we met up and away we went.

Our game plan was to go east out of pompey feather up enough sandeels for the day then head out to the French Banks
and get some bass. (don't know why they're called french, no where near France)
Small snag, the eels didn't read the game plan, after two hours of trying we gave up.

Plan B.
Catch some macci keep them alive in bait tank and use them instead, not as good as eels but still effective.
Plan B didn't work either not a fish, five hours had passed and silence had replaced the usual banter.

Plan C.
Go wrecking, after and hours steam we were over the Yale and a mix of shads and pirks headed for the wreck, four
drifts later and we were still fishless not even a take, time for a move. Second wreck didn't produce either.
An air of gloom and doom settled over all on board. What to do, the gps said we were 32 miles from home, choices...
go 8 miles southwest to a reef with another wreck a further 7 miles south, or head 12 miles east to a reef. East
ruled out as it would be do or die. (putting us to far away to try anything else) S/W it was then. At least the wind
had dropped and the sun was shining, there is a God, first drift and four pollock boated, second saw two pollock
small ling and a cod in.
We ended up with around forty pollock four cod, biggest 18lb one ling 10lb and a small bass released.

Got along side about 5.30 with smiles on faces and totally knackered, sorry no pics, this numpty left camera and
phone in car.
