First Boat trip wrecking

John aka Monkey nuts told me on Friday that a place came available on the ‘white rebel’ to do wrecking. So not even knowing what I was going to let myself into, I jumped the chance to get some sea fishing done.

Saturday morning my alarm went of at 4am, (am I mad or what?!)….soon my food/drink supply were packed, brekki and coffee consumed and off I set of to Southampton.

Soon after my arrival the others turned up…..the only one missing is the skipper , who managed to join us 20 mins late, which at least gave us time for introduction and getting our kit on board.

In no time we were on our way and I can recall thinking ……I hope I’m not going to be sick….I hope I’m not going to be sick lol.

First stop was for fuelling up, second stop to feather for some mackerel…..I must say, they must be the most stupidest fish swimming this earth lol

10am arrived and we had our first stop to get fishing. John was a great help, he not just only showed me how to fish from a boat but he was also kind enough to lend me the gear and provided me with the tackle.
A Big thanks to John

Anyway, rod went, my led hit bottom and I started to pump the rod up and down….geez that’s hard work I can tell you……but my afford was rewarded and I had the first bite of the day……

An 8lb cod….(that’s Sunday dinner sorted lol)

Oh and I also had a little pout of about 1-1.5 lb….which I had no time to weigh as John soon had it turned into bait lol

Soon after the oldest team member managed a 12lber……..(sorry it’s that name thingy AGAIN, I’m useless remembering them).

Soon we were to our next destination …..this time our skipper took us over a wreck

Again here John explained to me how to fish a wreck, drop the led to the bottom, reel in about 30 turns, drop it again and so on. (HEEELLLP and the day has only started…..worse than pumping ion lol)

The day went on and we fished different wrecks……John was a little disappointed,(he would have like for everybody to get loads fish) as fish caught were little, although they were there…..just not playing.

I lost track of who caught what and when, as I was so concentrating on trying to keep my balance on the rocking boat lol (and no guys, I didn’t ground bait with my dinner I had the day before), in fact I didn’t feel the slightest woozy, although my legs felt like jelly at times lol.

Some of the guys taking a quick refreshment and tackling up

Dangler in full concentration there

I managed another pout, around the same weight as the first but that was it for the day.

Here a pic of John drowning his sorrow for not getting a bigunLOL

Well at least he still could smile

I'm not sure how it was for the others but I enjoyed the trip, I was a great experience (I never ever want a huge eel on my line though, no way I could bring that in....struggled with a little cod already Shocked)and I'm already looking forward to the next one in August.

A big thanks to our skipper too, a nice guys......he only threw the fish at John, not us lol lol lol

BTW thanks for filleting the fish for us John

P.s Here a pic of me livebaiting a mackerel I caught (needed for the points)

Re: First Boat trip wrecking

Well done Claudia, and for some one without sea legs I think you did fantastically well.

I just wish my back was strong enough to go wrecking, I might join you next time if it is not a wrecker.
