dreaming with a bang !

well i decided to change tacked after struggling to bank a zander in the last three weeks and was in two minds whether to go to gunton park and chase a carp or two as i,ve not been there for a while and i will be targeting this water later in the year in the hope of a tench for the species hunt . but decided to wait till this evening and go dreaming with Phil (bream king ) on our local river the river yare as its been a while
again my preparation was done thoroughly with the usual suspect bait ingredients being put into the mix with one extra additive from hinders (crab and krill )

i,m hoping that the aroma its gives off would hopefully attract the bream in and may be a out side chance of one of the illusive carp that are also present there which occasionally get hook by the bream anglers but with very few getting landed .
tactics for tonight are going to be paternoster feeder tactics using feeders of around 1and a half ounces to hold a crossing the flow of the river and animal size 10 hooks to nylon 4lb BS and before i start i will clip up the feeder and fill it four or five times and cast out just to get a bit of bait out to hopefully draw the bream in quicker .
baits are going to be changed between caster, sweetcorn ,trusty lobworms and good old bread i will start by fishing baits or there own but will be ringing the changes and fishing baits in various combinations to see if these works better or less than using them singley .
well we arrived at the river and there was an angler fishing close to the car park on chatting to him he told us it was fishing slow but he,d had 4 bream .
so we collected our tackle form the cars and made our way down the bank to where we wanted to fish .with our rods all ready being made up we were ready to fish in no time and after clipping up and chucking a few feeder full of ground bait into are fishing spots we were ready to go i decided to start with corn on one and corn and caster on the other so both my rods were out and Phil (the bream kings was out to .
we waited but not long as Phil in no time at all was into a fish he played it in quickly and just before sliding into the net i promptly took a pic of the first of the night

this once soon unhook and a another shot of Phil with his prize .

again Phil was back out waiting for action and i was expecting action soon as well and soon i was into my first bream of the evening not the biggest but very welcomed especially as i,ve not had a bend in a rod for a while .
i soon was out into the middle of the river where i was fishing and Phil was into his second of the night .
there was a good breeze blowing across the river into our faces but this was not to much of a problem as the bites were very positive .
i changed my far bank rod over to half a worm tipped with a red maggot and sent it back over to the far side all most immediately the tip swung round and i struck connecting with another river bream but at the same time my other rod went and i struck and had two on at the same time Phil came over to help but sadly it fell off but i managed to land one .

this was starting to look like it could be hectic .i rebaited both with the same baits as before and then cast them both back out hoping they would soon be taken and sure enough i did not have to wait long as my worm was taken and once again in found myself striking the other and yet again having to on at the same time Phil once again came over to assist and this time both were landed

these were soon in the keep net i got the rods back out but not for long as another bream had decided it was going to snaffle the worm again the used the flow to try a resist being capture but the hook heeled firm and it was soon gather up into the net .

Phil swim was quiet and as he was getting up early he decided to leave me to it and i carried on catching few more bream most were now falling to the far bank rod with worm on it so i decided to change the closer rod to worm as well and almost immediately it was taken and another bream was banked and no sooner had it bee put into the net i wads straight in again

i fished on and managed another couple of bream then over to my right in the distance i could hear the sound of fire works being let off and as the fire works were getting to the end of the show i could just see them over the tree,s so i tried to get a shot of them and i actually thought this one was ok

i managed one more bream before the bites started to slow up.

so i decided to call it a night too but i was very happy that i,de been able to catch a few it was quite interesting that i had added the additive and i got most of the action when Phil was here but there could be a number of reason why but i would like to think the additive made a bit of difference .

tightlines
Kevin

Thumbs up Re: breaming with a bang !

Good report Kev & a great bag of snotty's. That Crab & Krill stuff appears to have done the trick. I shall have to look out for that.
