Fishing the Mon & Brecon Canal Tomorrow All being well I'm going to fish the Govilon stretch on the Mon & Brecon canal tomorrow. My targets will be perch, roach and rudd on the waggler with maggot, worm and possibly bread punch as bait with bread freelined for the decent sized carp I regularly see cruising near the surface. I may also take a rod for the pike but it is likely to only be a short session so probably not. It is a new stretch of the canal for me as I've decided I'm going to get out of my comfort zone of local match lakes or carp puddles and try new things also the scenery is lovely which makes a blank day less of a chore. Hope to report back with lots of new species hunt points! ![]()

Re: Fishing the Mon & Brecon Canal Tomorrow good luck, and remember when on the canal if the fish are not there move 50 yards along, the trick with canals is to find where they are, not draw them to where you are.

Re: Fishing the Mon & Brecon Canal Tomorrow Disappointing in the end, only got 2 hours and took my daughter for her first fishing trip. Only got one bite between us and that was when we were packing up. Not sure if works to drain the canal nearby had affected things, if we just hadn't given ourselves enough time to attract the fish in or if tactics were wrong (saw someone else fishing with a quiver tip who was getting bites at least - we fished waggler floats). Can't catch everytime I guess and at least my daughter wants to go again but to one of the lakes where we've got a better chance of catching.
