Talking My Bike Ride

well the title doesnt involve fishing i know...but i really did intend to fish today!

At 9:00am i loaded up my bike with a rod and a bankstick and loaded myself up with all sorts of bags and tackle and set off on a bike ride to The Carrs lakes in carlton at 10:00am...around 4 miles away. (dad was asleep and the bus came too late).

here is a picture of my trusty steed that i would be tootling down the icy backroads on

seeing as though it was a rather pretty frosty morning with a light dusting of snow i decided to take some pictures of the scenery on the way... this ones looking out towards the coast (cant see it but its in that direction)

and then about a half mile down the road is honeypot wood...give it 20 years and itll be the next sherwood forest!

and then another half mile or so is the forbidden fruit...the beck! it has plenty of fish in it...including brown trout into double figures. you just have to fish light and be ready to hide or run! especially as a local lake flooded into it and their fish escaped into the beck heehee

then i got to my destination at around 10:30am ... the carrs fishing lakes! i biked round the corner to see them frozen. oh joy. as you can see...my bait container will sit in the middle of the pond quite happily. i did a quick scout and took these photos but there was nowhere fishable unfortunately.

well i thought that maybe bowsies wouldnt be frozen over, as it is a deeper lake, so off i went on my trusty steed to bike another 4 miles ALL THE WAY to old stillington, and on the way i saw this new sign that wasnt there before...perhaps a government research facility?

well i arrived at bowsies and surprise surprise...it was frozen. i did the same thing like at carrs, looking for some melted ice so i could fish there but no luck...i wouldnt be fishing today

same thing with my baitbox...but with stones

well i didnt get to try for freshwater points today. all in all i must have cycled 8-11 miles...but hopefully tomorrow im goin to fish Hartlepool Marina and go for some saltwater points...as me and dad dont have a clue what lurks in there, it should be exciting! then maybe the middleton on sunday as a big trip! heres hopin for fish!

Thumbs up Re: My Bike Ride

Great report PP, but it should have been on the Ice fishing forum. I would have been tempted to try for those Trout & use the Bike for a quick gettaway if required.

Re: My Bike Ride

lol thank guys...and it may be PURPLE () but it can go fast as greased lightning if you get in in 21st gear an ice hut wouldnt be such a bad idea lmao...the ice must have been 2 inches at some places!
