| Re: fishing this weekend Might be hard going but as for bloodworm boilies they seem to do the job on silty bottom swims __________________ Richard|Sea Fishing |Carp Fishing| Spud Gun | Zander fishing | Fishing Reports | Hunting Reports |

| Re: fishing this weekend the weather will play a great part in your fishing as carp do tend to lay up for long periods of time and will not move to much to conserve energy as in the winter food (naturals )becomes scarcer so they tend not to move very far unless the conditions become mild . so locating the carp before you start will give you a above average chance of a take i tend to also use one rod to rove around and i,ll give it a half an hour then move it i also like to fish with the tips up in winter as bite tend to be sometimes very gentle and some time movement on your rod tips is all you will get so be vigilant i also like to use running rigs in the winter more i tend to make sure as far as baits goes i take a wide variety soo i can change often these baits will range from a pint of red maggots (which are fished in a big bunch tied on a d rig ) can be deadly in winter good old sweet corn which i will use very sparingly i like maples but these take a few days to prep and they do tend to lose a bit of potency in the very cold month so it might pay to give them a miss lobworms again i find these worm better if used after heavy rainy condition i think this is because worms get washed into the lake maybe why worms tend to work better in my opinion now boilies again have to be considered but i tend to reduce the size from either 18mm or a 14mm down to like a 10mm and fish them in with a couple of slow release pellets or low oil pellets pellet with maybe a single broken up boilie biut bigger pve bags can work well again this is judge on the day how much or little is used and this also will depend on whetherits mild or cold but its a mine field of what to use or not to use and most will use what they feel confident with i personally again would use a savoury flavour but fruit flavours work well too now what is more important than the flavour is the base mix used some will argue that it does not matter well there is a lot that do think it does and a bird food base mix in my own opinion seem to work better that the fishmeals but yet as technology in base mixes improves so the gap closes but i,m not going to confuse you to what is or isn,t a good bait use what you feel confident with but one tip a freezer bait will work better than a shelf life but none of the above will matter if you don,t locate them first hope this makes you think before you fish and good luck hope you catch tightlines kevin ![]() |
