Left over session

Mike and I had a little session on the K&A Canal, as we had some bait left over from yesterday and we thought it would have been a shame to let it get to waste.
We arrived at the canal around 11.15am (quite late, as I couldn't get my butt out of bed lol)...picked our swim and start setting up.

I decided to fish one rod on a feeder with some groundbait, maggots and casters as bait and the other rod I wanted to set up on a float, maggots as bait AND THAT'S where it all went wrong.
First I got caught up in an overhanging tree, than I managed to get a birds nest, on top of that my float kept dissepearing and re-apearing, that was due to the uneven depth.

So I thought of fishing the float a little overdepth but that caused problems as there was too much weed right at the bottom.....by then I managed to get my rig tangled, lucky there wasn't anyone around to hear my cursing lol.

After 1.5 hrs of untangling, finding the right depth without s**tloads of weed around and re-tackling my rig which I lost in the tree.......I finally manged to settle down for some fishing, a coffee and a fag.
By that time Mike already managed to catch a few skimmers but had to re-cast alot due to alot of barges going passed.

One of dozens:

The rest of the day went pretty slow, all that seemed to bite were skimmers and hybrids. Come 4pm and the wind started to pick up which made floating a little difficult but I kept going as I didn't want to re-rig for the last hour.

Mike feeling a little nippy

5pm and it was time to pack up and call it a day, as it was getting pretty cold and dark.

Re: Left over session

we were down at All Cannings very close to the barge moorings.

What Claudia has left out is someone did hear the cursing, ME!

I thought that some strange Teutonic cult were performing Imbolc rituals, I heard swearing, strange grunts and moans, funny little stampy feet dances and comments like " it is nearly 2 o'clock and I have only just set up, I might as well go sit in the car"

The toys were well out of the pram!

when she did get set up and happy the second cast on the float rig caught the tree, Armageddon started!!

that picture of me is a guy keeping his head down and not wanting to make eye contact, death may follow!

I tried to enjoy the peace and harmony of nature, but the wench on the warpath did make it difficult. It calmed down when she started catching but I was getting very cold by then , I had planned on leaving early so as to miss the cold part of the day, but dare not suggest it until she had caught enough fish to calm the mood.

So having added no species, got cold and heard things an innocent boy like me should never hear, I went home happy that at least I was still breathing.

Looking forward to next time, I might suggest a swim with really overhanging branches just to learn some more german profanities!!!!

I may have to write a will first.

Mike

Ooh, tell me when.... I always enjoy learning to swear in new and creative ways.

The thing is, I'd wouldn't say Claudia was the sort to get grumpy and swear lots.... Well, not when she's in clowting range any way....

And BTW Claudia, that's two reports on the trot you've caught fish in now. Gimme me crown back.....

Nice one guys!
