| Todber manor 3/2/2007 Mithrandir's perspective I had planned to go to Todber and fish Wadmill lake with Twiddler and Warmit63. We met up on a frosty morning at 8 am only to find that Wadmill lake had been drained and would not be fishable for at least 3 weeks, so a quick change and we decided to fish Whitepost lake, one of the smaller match lakes. A view of the lake ![]() The sun was out and and the frost was melting nicely as we set up, we had the lake to ourselves so Steve fished the narrow end, Claudia fished the middle lagoon and I fished the wide end. I was using my french kit for the first time so was on big pit reels on 15lb line and 3 lb test curve rods!!! Well over the top for this small match lake. I fished 10mm pineapple boilies with a cage feeder of ground bait on one rod, and maggots on a maggot feeder on the other. At around 11-30 I was treated to a run on the boilie rod and reeled in this little 4lb Mirror Carp ![]() About noon I had another take on the boilie rod and for the points out came this Common Carp ![]() I had a little action on the maggot rod and hooked into what I think was a bream, the line just kept going slack until I struck it, then it shot off like a train, managed to cross my other line and as I fumbled about it spat the hook, was a fair size as it put a good bend in the rod but losing a fish always makes it bigger!! Things went a bit quiet but I did manage two more carp This mirror with a nice line of scales a bit like a linear carp, this came in on the maggots. ![]() And to close the account another 4lb mirror ![]() After a short nap I was awakened by my bite alarm, still dozy I reeled in but nothing there, just a large ring of ripples where my bait had been cast. The wind had dropped to nothing and I could see bubbles like tench were feeding just in front of me so I spent the last hour slack line legering for the tench, had a few tentative takes but none connected. So happy with the nice new rods and reels and having had a good day with good company we set off home for a chinese and a beer. Mike |

| Great report & pics Mike. Wish I could have been there instead of working in the garden under the watchful eye of her who must be obeyed... __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |

Claudia and Steve are doing their own reports, we decided that was the best way as I was way up the other end of the lake from them and missed large chunks of what they did. Well done on the Gardening Ian, duty done, lets hope fishing passes are in order for that. Have you got a good venue for next weekend as Wadmill is out of action? Mike |
