Cool Bowsies 14th January 2007

Well with a blanked first sea trip of the year i was hoping for a good first freshwater trip of the year. I was going to go to the Nature Reserve but it was WAY too windy...but i knew a certain spot at Bowsies...5 mins down the road... which was out of the wind enough to fish. (it was VERY windy today btw)

Got there at about 11:45 and started to set up and throw some groundbait in. For once i had the whole lake to myself as everyone else within 20 miles was sane enough to stay at home .The water was very very mucky and the lake was high. not the best conditions ever. also, i had to fish on the opposite bank to where the wind was blowing all the bait inshore, but i had my own little bay.

i started with the float, as the wind didnt bother me too much as long as i had a little bit of weight to it, so i started fishing.

not much at all to tell you about apart from two tiny bites which i missed because they were so quick (pesky little perch!) so no points for the species hunt from the float!

i decided to feeder fish next, hearing 100 bream had just been stocked, so i made a crumb - maggot/pellet - crumb sandwich in the feeder and lobbed it out. after staring at the below image for an hour with nothing but the wind making the rod wiggle, dad came with supplies! i now had a flask of hot tea and biccies!

well things were looking grim. id had my fill of chocolate digestives and tea and i hadnt had a bite yet. i got bored and saw a pretty cool cloud, so in the state of mind i was in...i photographed it for something to do

my friend the landing net also got lonely as no fish had come to see him so i took a picture of him as well...dry as a bone

Dad then texted me to say "im on the way...start packing up!" so i did...i started to pack away telling the lake id beat it next time. no species hunt points yet...but have you ever heard of the calm before the storm?
