| Cracking start to the New Year What a cracking day I had on saturday.......met up with a few angler friends for a fish in at the Kennet&Avon canal in bath. Originally we were going to fish the bristol avon but the due to the rain the banks burst and it was unfishable. Arrive at destination in Bristol around 9am, after getting totally lost  which is typical for me lol.The others already had there breakfast so we set off to the tackle shop in bath to get our day ticket and moved on to the K&A. Weather conditions were diabolical....it was bucketing down all day, we got soak to the bone but that didn't put us off. view to left of my swim  On my second cast out I got this little skimmer  After that things went quiet for a couple of hours. My mate Wendy caught a nice 2lb8oz perch and another of 1lb5oz....a couple more perches were caught by another angler. Around 3pm the rain had finally stoped and thing begun to move. First pike was caught by Steve, 3 mins later another by Wendy.......I was getting real jealous as all over sudden I saw my swinging arm lifting. Oh my gawd....I thought, what am I going to do now? Quickly one of the angler came over and qualmly talked me through and after a short struggle I landed this little beauty  Not a double but my very first Pike of 8lb.......I tried myself on a 'Baggie Rich ' smile but I failed big style lol. A few more pikes where caught within mins after that. Best one caught by my friend Wendy, she was fishing deadbait on a quiver rod for perch, when all over sudden her cluge went racing......she managed to land an 18lb pike on a 4lb bs line after a 15 min struggle.....respect!!! | Re: Cracking start to the New Year I just had my wrist slap for my spelling mistake and not for mentioning bait/rig/line was used......my apology, I didn't get back until 12:30am this morning and was back up at 6:30am to get ready for a shore fishing match today, so I am a little tired, which is not stopping me from enjoying a beer or two.
