River fishing Where..........

I am planning to go river fishing this weekend but to be honest i've never been before.

I feel i am equipped enough but i don't know where to go. I'm from stoke on trent so can easily hit the M6. I know the dane, dove and severn are need by but don't know any stretch i could/should use.

Free fishing would be great but i don't mind a day ticket. Any directions would also help.
thanks

It's a bit far for me mate, although i've had some great sessions on the Trent in the past. I would think your best bet would be to seek some advice in your local tackle shop & check the weekly angling magazines to find out where's fishing well. Good luck & looking forward to reading your report.
