Report on 'chilling time at the kennet&avon' canal

Mike and arrived at the canal around 10.15 yesterday morning, as we had to go into Devizes tackle shop to get our yearly membership.

Weather report for the day was overcast and occasional showers, which we found out was a little understatement....in other words, it was p*****g it down.

After a 15 min walk we found a good swim and set up.

I set my rod with a 5lb mainline and a stickfloat, quickly plumbed the depth and ready to go.
Using maggot as bait, needless to say it only took a minute before I had my first bite, a roach, followed by more roach rudd and bream/skimmer, all smallish sizes.

By than it was throwing it down buckets, but wanting to be a proper angler I didn't give up.

Followed by the roach, rudd, bream, there came the ruffe

They beginning to enoy me now lol

Mike had better luck as he added perch, ruffe (lots of them) and what he believes might be bleak and gudgeon to his species hunt.

We also found out from a passing angler that the canal definetly holds Pike as he caught one the week before.

Around 7pm we started to pack up, by than we were drenched to the bone but nevertheless we had a good days fishing.

Me sitting on a pot of gold lol

Claudia

Well done Claudia. Blanking champion huh?

Much respect for sitting it out in the rain. Your last photo looks like a good reward for though.

Don't you just love that Ruffe Ian?

Rich.
