Thumbs up mucking about in collumpton

well today i was working in a small hospital in collumpton whos boudry is made up of the river Culm
but is an unfished part as private ground, well today i got permission and managed to walk past the tight security measures inplace #

and went up to river to find it very, very low and crystal clear and only 1 access point was good enough to fish due to water level

dosent really show but water at bend was only about 8-10 inches at deepest
also was very windy but quite hot

tried ledger for chub/anything, and spinning for pike
realised after short while was fallorn hope so decided to abandon river untill get some rain

drove the 2-3 minutes down road to kia ora ponds armed only with float rod and net and 1pint maggot and few bits chopped luncheon meat
founsd garden chair game on somewhere to sit and away we go
got set up about 5.30 as most others were leaving
fed a few maggot then waggler float fished with maggot on a size 8(trying to avoid roach)
so no suprise I got loads of roach, then few slimy skimmers than a deep hooked perch

so decided to put the luncheon meat on hook and first cast a carp about 4lb
then 2 more again about 4-5 lb

now starting to get quite dark(and shoukld leave at sunset )
then noticed big movement in water by feet so lovered luncheon meat 1 ft out from bank infront of me and bang another nice carp about 5 lb(sorry no mat didnt think i'd be doing this today)

returned it 1 swim along and tried again and 1 more carp,
all fought really well on the match rod and 4lb line
now almost too dark too see so packed up and left

a cracking short session grabbed after dissapointment from river

sorry not more pics but camera really needs to be sorted 9shutter keeps jamming, got lots of 1/2 a fish )

Re: mucking about in collumpton

Nice one mate.... Might have to give this dark side lark a try at some stage...

So is it a case of only fishing the river when you're working at the place, or have you had "words"???

Rich.
