| breaming good hike well again i had another bream session with my mate the bream miester . again we wanted to fish some on the river yare that niether of us had fished before with a chance of one of the river yares 9lb plus bream which so far were proving to be illusive . as my mate was going to be running late and would not get round until after eight i decided to prep the ground bait for us to use . once again it would consist of standard bread crumb ground baits and a load of other goodies . ![]() these other ingredients were corn steep liquor pellets a assortment of small halibuts pellets , three tins of sweet corn and a pint of mixed maggots this was lightly mixed to a firm consistency so it would hold in the feeder as you can also see all the different goodies in the mix which should keep the bream if they our in our swims around for longer periods . ![]() tactics for tonight was going to be a 1oz feeder on a ten inch loop rig with a 18 inch tail of 4lb line to a size 8 hook . hook baits were again corn and lob worms or maggots out of mix. soon phil arrived and we were on are way when we arrived at the place were going to fish ,we had to park the car at the top and walk down over the railway lines and down to the river the walk to us about fifteen minutes . so we both set up and i sent a couple of casts out to count down to the bottom to find if there was any difference in the depth and sure enough at about a third distance out was a deep hole abit up stream . i clip up and cast a few feeder fulls of feed into the hole and then settle down and waited for the bream to bite . it did not take long before i had my first bite and a bream of about 2lb was banked . ![]() and soon after the recast i was in again to a better fish this time which used its body shape to hold in the flow but bream don,t fight overly hard. but still i enjoy fishing for them with my mate phil as we have been brought up on them living in the heart of the broads . there is some fantastic bream fishing to be had if you know where to look for them . ![]() the routine of casting into the hole to the clip was paying dividends especially after i banked my third bream of the session, my confidence was growing and i hoped phils swim would kick off to . ![]() phil at this stage still had not even had a bite but we both thought this would be a matter of time before he got his first fish of the evening as they came to his feed that was getting built upfrom the regular casting . for a while i stopped getting bites and i thought this might be because the bream were a bit up stream of me and were drifting down into the hole to pick up some food items and then going back up . or had i spooked the shoal as from the area we were fishing it looked like its does not get overly fished . i cast abit further up stream and sure enough i was into another bream and this was followed by another this seemed to tell me my first assumption what the breamwas doing was right . ![]() still it was quiet in phils swim and he decided it was time for a change and changed to a couple of maggots and on casting it out he did not have to wait long till a eel pick up his hook bait . phil decided to change back to corn as he did not fancy picking any more eels up and fish to the far bank along the tree line . but even here he could not buy a bite i soon had another couple of bream safely banked . but it was still patchy and would go quiet again i was conviced they were up stream of the hole and from my position i had to wait till the dropped back a few yards before i would get any bites .but another one or two bream were still banked ![]() we decided to call it a night and although only i had the bream phil was not to dissapointed as we had found another spot that produced bream for us. but it seemed that this swim was a one man swim as they seemed to sit above the hole i had found and two people would not be able to cast there because of its position to the bank . but again the big bream were not around but we are going to try a bit further down as we think this could throw up a surprise for us but thats will have to wait for another day . so it a farewell from mister bream ![]() and then we packed up and made are way back up to the car and we were glad when we got back to the car as it seemed to be a long way back up hill . tightlines kevin ![]() |
