whats going wrong i,ve lost my passion

well i went this evening bit of a sad tales and as you know i,ve all ways tried to tell it has it happens and i,m going to be honest in how i feel .
after a bad day and things going a bit t*ts up i decided i was going to go fishing but did not know whatr to target and after a while i decided i might aswell go breaming again ,as you can tell it sounded if i was really up for it (not ).
so gear in the car i set off to some where ,any where well i really did not care i stopped at two places walked about but did not really want to fish so back in the car and off i drove again wondering where to go finally i stopped at st bennets abbey .
i wondered down the bank had a quick look and got my gear. got set up and promptly threw out a few balls of ground bait . i sensed there was something wrong but did not know so i carried on .
then it hit me about 15 minutes into the session i was BORED and i really did not want to be here i fished on and missed every bite but i did not care . after about an hour i packed up not really feeling like i should be fishing it was as if all my passion for the sport had left me sadly i put the gear in my car and stared back at the river trying to create some sort of eagerness to want to head back and catch but no nothing just a feeling of numbness .
puzzled and bewildered i drove home still trying to left my spirits to want to fish
sadly i think i,m going to have to sort my head out before i fish again .
i hope i,m back on track and get out, but i,m of the b opinion this has been coming on for about six month since i had to start to fish on my own .
oh well you never know i good nights sleep and i might be right as rain will see .

tightlines
kevin

Dont worry mate we all feel like that every now and again.
Have a break from fishing ,or just do a bit of sea fishing and wait a while till you go freshwater.
Look on the bright side mate our lass is working everynight this week so if i want to go fishing i cant go till gone 1030.
Chin up Kev

Cool Re: whats going wrong i,ve lost my passion

Don't despair BM when things in life or fishing look their worst, there is always a ray of sunshine that pops in somehwere.

Take some time out and go do some other form of fishing and then come back to your chosen specialism.....a change is a good as a rest.

Re: whats going wrong i,ve lost my passion

Sorry to hear that Kev.

After all the blood, sweat and tears you put in to the Zandering last season, I find it hard to believe that you won't be right there again come the start of the new season.

Everyone has their ups and downs mate. That's what life is, a series of up's and downs. The trick is to make as much of the ups as you can whilst moving on from the downs as quickly as possible.

Just take a break, and picture yourself pulling that 40lb'er from the lake in France next year. Give it another go when you feel like it... It'll come back. I'm certain.

Rich.

Re: whats going wrong i,ve lost my passion

Kev

You and your family have gone through so much over the last few weeks its hardly supprising those events have taken over your usual passion for fishing,
plus the loss of your regular fishing buddy is gonna get you feeling lost as well

give the kids and family attention over the hols and enjoy the sun,and break and i'm sure that you will be back on track with great stories of ZANDER in the autumn to show us all

oh and there is a small matter of france next year as well

dave

you can always ring if ya need as well mate

Re: whats going wrong i,ve lost my passion

hi Kev,
sorry to hear that you have lost you're usual enthusiasm,
from reading the above posts and my own experience i can only say
don't worry about it too much, for one reason or another it looks like we've all
lost our enthusiasm for angling at one time or another.

there have been times for me when i 've lost faith in everything, even fishing
but the beaches and rivers are allways there for when i return.

here to listen if you want to talk,

gord.

Re: whats going wrong i,ve lost my passion

I dont know your personal situation Kev but i`m sorry to hear you`re going through a bad time. Take some time off from your usual hum drum if thats what it is to you. Change direction slightly, do a bit of sea fishing (mind you that`ll probably drive you over the edge lol). I went through it a few years ago and went fishing about 3 times in as many years. Now I cant seem to get enough again....Still dont catch much but I do like the solitude when fishing on my own..gives me time to think about the things I dont normally get a chance to think about in the normal fast pace of life...

Good luck whatever you decide mate.

Re: whats going wrong i,ve lost my passion

Take a break mate and chill and think / spend time with your family and in october you will be itching to get back out and in a better frame of mind.

S++t happens and just do not worry about it fishing is fun and thats what it should be so when your ready to get back into fishing it will be waiting for you.

Noel is on a distinguished road
Re: whats going wrong i,ve lost my passion

I was all geared up for a short afternoon/evening stalking session today. Got to the lake. Saw there were more people than I was expecting. Had a look round for 15 minutes and then walked straight back to the car and drove home!

First time I've ever done something like that. It just didn't feel right. I was just frustrated that all the areas I was planning to fish were taken. I could have stuck it out but I just knew I wouldn't be happy so off I went.

Fishing can definately be tough. I know it shouldn't be but sometimes I've felt the same as you. I adore fishing but sometimes I go for weeks without going. It just depends what I'm feeling. If you don't feel like it then don't go. There's nothing worse than forcing yourself imo.

The 'hunter-gatherer' in you has decided to have a break. Go and join him!
