Got Rob out big game hunting again

well as had a family do at parents n saturday took opertunity to get up there early and usethe babysitting servies of parents, so on thurs night thought would meet Rob for a night of Big Game fishing for STICKLEBACKS

this was chosen venue, cricketers pub in epsom(with a well known stickleback stream running behind

I had sorted gear and tactics before, using 2ft garden canes, 2lb line, size 20 hooks and matchstick floats, other accessories were the jamjar and string handle and curly bread for bait

so arriving at about 8.30 find rob well into his first pint, so I get out me tackle to great mirth and embarrisment in a packed beer garden and persuade rob weshoud dissapear behind the beer garden for a short while

so off we trot to the stream of pleanty fully armed for these hard fighting stickleback

after sorting out swims we were off and hunting

tactics seeminga bit crude after 30 yrs away from this style of fishing
but we soon got the hang of it

rob then found a scorcher of a swim(near the old fallen tree(remember that when from when i were a kid !!) but still the elusive stickleback played hard to get, despite tough double hook action in this the most productive swim

well we called it a day soon after as beers getting too warm, maybe the earlier thunder had put the fish off the feed, or we had wrong bait or it was just getting too dark, who knows ,

but the blanking was made up for with a few more beers in local working mens club and a swift game of pool

next time rob they shall be ours

thanks to brother for taking photos and minding pints hehe

Great report Dave

Unlucky on not catching anything, but I bet that session bought back a few memories and looked like you both had fun trying
