Red face Clivey pond yesterday.

Managed to finish work early yesterday & as the weather had cooled a bit I decided to have a couple of hours down at my local fishery. Fitted some heavier elastic in my pole, as last time I kept hooking big carp. Called in the tackle shop & bought a tin of pineapple flavour sweetcorn. Arrived at the pond to find fish topping everywhere & only one other angler on the bank. Set up my Brolly first, as there was a big black cloud looming on the horizon, then set up my pole with 5lb mainline, 4lb hooklength & size 12 barbless hook. The fish here can be a bit shy as it gets fished heavily & usually lurk tight under bushes or in reed beds. Last time I had no trouble hooking them, but my pole elastic would not stop them before they weeded me. Hopefully the thicker pole elastic would work this time.I plumbed the depth & set my hook to fish just on the bottom. Then carefully lowered the baited rig beneath a nearby bush. Before the bait had time to settle, the pole was nearly pulled out of my hands by a large carp that promptly came straight off.
Rebaited & placed my bait in the same place. Same again, only this time the fish stayed on. Unfortunately it was a little mirror carp of about 4oz. Then it started to rain in absolute torrents . This appeared to drive the fish into a feeding frenzy & I was getting a fish a chuck. Sadly nothing large. Just loads of small Carp & Tench between 4oz & 1.5lb plus a few good size skimmer bream. (Sorry no pics, I forgot the camera) Then the local schoolkids arrived along with a couple of other anglers & things got very noisy (Kids & mobile Phones ) & the fishing slowed down. I decided it was time to pack up, trouble was another thunder storm started , so I decided to sit it out under my brolly. THEN I GOT CRAMP in my leg. Ouch!!!! Just had to stand up to stretch my leg, problem was, there was'nt room under the brolly to stand up. Must have looked a right prat dancing around in the pouring rain clutching my leg & getting soaked to the skin
