swangey cat session

i went cat fishing down to one of my local waters swangey lakes day ticket water £12 a day .
i had a walk round and had a chat to the bailiff who told me its been fishing very hard as the temperture seemed to have put them off the feed .
i decided to set up on the clay bank for two reasons they were its was shaded and there was a breeze blowing on to it which in these tempertures would hope fully would keep me cool.
it took a while to set up base camp as with the heat i had to keep stopping but once finally done i went about searching out likely spots to fish to .
once this had been done the rods were set up and i decided tactically to have one on a zig rig in mid water and the other two would be divided with one on halibuts pellets and the other on boilies . so the first job was to spod a bit of pellet out to the spot and then set the traps .
i paid particular attention in getting on the spot as it was not a big spot in front of the bloodworm bed and if i missed the mark i might not get any action.

here is the lake view from my swim on the clay bank .
the afternoon was quiet with carp just basking on the top not showing any interest in wanting to feed on the surface or any where else .
but as it started to get dark i started to get liners as the fish move down in the water and had a bit of a much also i was hoping the cats would not be on the prowl .
there were two anglers also on ythe clay bank who had never fish here before and were also after catching some cats as they had never had one ,
so we had a good social swapped tactic and bait ideas .
suddenly i had a very fast take and on leaning into it i knerw i had my first cat of the session it scrapped well and tried to get me in a tangle but i managed to land it and i was pleased job done oh and 1.5 points to
i weighed it and it went 10lb exacly not big for swangey but a cat all the same .
this was released and the traps were set again.

it was now nearly midnight so i decided to retire for the night .i must have been asleep for about an hour when i was awoken by another run on the same rod again the battle was swift and the cat was soon laying on the unhooking mat once again this was weighed and photoed and released this went 9lb 2oz

this was the last action for the night but i really did not mind .
i was up very early and set up two of my rods on running zig rigs so i could investigate the upper layers in the hope to fool one of the carp but i spent several hours of frustrating fishing with a few interesting approaches but no takes .
soon late afternoon was upon me and the rod were set up back for the cats for that night but i actually did not feel confident .
i went to sleep about 11pm and had no action and woke up at about 5 am and decided to pack up and come home ,but i got what i came for so i was happy .

tightlines
kevin

Hi Baitmaster,

Excellent report and pictures.

I am very impressed with your tactics, one of these days I will have to try Course Fishing.

Cheers
