| Been a good start to the year Whilst my little syndicate lake was in its closed season i decided to start venturing a bit further afield, joined a local club and soon had a new pb of 19'5lb, which i then caught again a week later a few ounces heavier. Also started visiting a few other venues and first visit to one, took my missus with me for her first overnighter, and my god did it rain !! About 6-8 weeks ago there was a washout of a weekend i'm sure some of you were also out in it Well we set up in torrential rain at about 10pm (not ideal eh !), she got soaked to the skin and i got through 3 sets of clothes before daybreak. First run came at 3am and was such a screamer i ran straight out the bivvy in joggers and t shirt, got soaked again but landed eventually my first cat of 14lb. Definately something i will remember !! Come daybreak got a run at 8am, rain had just stopped, sun came out and had the fight of my life, thought it was a bigger cat until i saw some golden flanks, knew immediately it was potentially my first 20, eventually banked it at 25lb dead. Was so great to have the missus there too, very special moment. Next trip out visited another lake and through the night had 2 x 19's, 1 x 18, 1 x 11, then at about 8am again (somaat about that time for me i think !) could not believe it when i peered in the net, thought its head was quite big as i played it but said to matey next door who walked across 'think that might be a new pb' and after telling him it was 25lb he assured me it would go thirty, scales went to 33'6lb. One very happy angler !! Had one more common of 24lb later that day and a small cat but got pestered by bream knocks following night and lost a good fish.Tried a lake which has a good head of forties next and had 2 runs in the night but never connected with either, hmm. But i'll be back, maybe there or back on the other lake i had the 33 since its got some stinkin great cats and i aint caught a biggi e yet !!! Here's some pics : the 25 the 33 the 24 tight lines fellas ![]() |

| Re: Been a good start to the year Thanks fellas, yeah rob i remember been a little while since i've posted, good to be back :) Heres a pic of one of the 19's, which was the first run in the night, as i set up i could see carp topping over a gravel spot which i'd been told about, couldnt get the rods in quick enough !! I've tried to cut out that messy background, one thing i usually forget when taking photos is the background, too much in a rush to get the fish back. My god there was tackle everywhere at that moment |
