taswood lakes

well i got the chance to go out fishing again for a 48 hour session but i was really struggling with what to target and i narrowed it down to two species carp (no surprise there ) and my favourite species zander .but as most predator anglers know these fish can be very delicate this time of year and with that in mind my decission was decided it would be carp yet again.
so now it was what venue was i going to choose again i look through my hit list of water that i have never fished and i came across a contender for me to go pick on .
this venue was called taswood wood lakes just out side norwich near tasburgh the venue consisted of seven lakes with pleasure lakes match lakes and two specimen lake one was called heron and the other was broadwing which has carp up to 40lb in it .i decided to go for heron lake which had a good head of carp with fish over 30lb and also had grass carp and ghosties in it .
any one wishing to fish it heres there contact number :01508 470919
after a good walk round the venues after i paid my money i hasten to add
i have to say it did not impress me and but i thought ok i,ll see what happens for the first night .
i found a bay right at the back of the lake that gets not alot of attention and is really like it own little lake and being only joined to the main body of water by a small cut which has a bridge over it .

this is looking to my imeadiate left where right up the end some nice lumps were milling round the pads

i was soon set up and decided to fished a rod either side of the island in front of me knowing that the carp would have to come through here to get back into the main lake .
tactics were again simple with line aligner rigs on safety clip systems with 1 and a half ounce leads fished over a bed of bait .
baits were tails up boilies which i,m still testing which are doing me the business at the moment (that reminds me i must contact them and give them a update on the way the bait is performing and can they tweak the flavours levels for the next batch .)
all after noon the carp just sunned themselfs on the surface and were very spooky to so it was not going to be easy to manage one from here and also not having any confidence with the water just made it harder.
as evening came the carp started to disappear from the surface and started to hunt for some thing to eat and i could see the bait i had put out was being carefully inspected by some of the carp but no runs transpired .
frustratingly they milled over the area as if the were waiting for some thing to happen .
still by ten o,clock nothing had happen so i turned in and at about a half an hour later my left hand rod was away , not very special battle took place and soon the fish was banked it was weighed and a weight of 11lb 4 was registered for the ghostie .

this was soon released and the rod despatched back to the side of the island and i settled down again with the thought well least i did not blank.
at about 1.45 am i was awoke again by the other rod and soon i was soon on it this time the fish put up a bit of resistance but i was more than capable to over come its resistance.
this was weighed and released with out any pics this went 10lb and was a mirror ,
again i cast the rod out and got back into my sleeping back to get a bit of shut eye wondering where these big carp were .
i just shut my eyes and i was up imeadiatly and connected with the fish this was banked very quickly and at a weight estimated about a 1.5lbs it was never going to trouble me .
the rod was soon out again and i retired back to the bag i shut my eyes and it seemed like i had not slept but i was awoke by the sound of water being sprayed when i looked out of the bivvy i could see this thing which i was later told are water pumps and they aeriate the water and they run from 4am to 7 am (great no more sleep for me then ) .any way this pump was spraying water right up to the island (wish i had took a piture ) and i thought that well with that going the fish were not going to feed ,well i was wrong as my right hand rod shot off and a battle started this fish actually fought back and i thought i was into something special i soon had in on the surface sliding over the net it was another ghostie and looked quite big ,on weighing it it went 14lb 6oz (so it was something a bit special as its a new forum record ) there you go richard another one for the records .
i apologise for the picture quality i was tired .

this was released and i thought well as i,m up i,ll make a brew and sat watching this thing shooting water out like a huge fountain while drinking my coffee .nothing else came and i was not suprised although i had a result with having the four carp i was not impressed by this water at all especially as its £18 a day maybe it was the strange way its set out or whether its cause there are angler being noisy on the other lakes i don,t know or may be i just expected bigger fish
i decided to pack up at 8 am collect my money back for the second day and go home a prepare for my next outing .

tightlines
kevin

Great report, I agree though - £18 is a bit pricy. Lovely fish though
