Cool Fathers Day Fishing

Hi Guys,

I hope every one had a great opening day on the Rivers. I had a nice session on one of my local lakes. It provided me with a few hours of cracking sport and a good few points!

I fished the lake match style but with rod and line and not a pole. Baits were worms, red pinkies and gold and red maggots and Casters. Loose feed was tiny trout pellets. Tackle Shimano Rod and reel 2AA crystal waggler float and size 16 hook to 4lb line.

First fish of the day came after 20 minutes of stimulating the chosen swim with loose feed. A plump little Tench hit the net Photographed and duly returned.

Then came a brightly coloured Rudd that took the pinky on the drop.

Next few fish were small Carp then I got taken for a ride by a bigger fish, but lost it on the far bank in a Willow tree!

Next fish yet another Carp. Then a nice little Silver Bream to a single caster.

Then I moved off to a corner of the lake that I knew held …….STICKLE BACKS!! So I put the really heavy gear on as I did not want to get broken on the first searing run!! Having stepped up the terminal gear, baited up with secret boily mix………………………… I waited. The bite alarm sounded and woke me from my doze and after a good 30 seconds of heart stopping scrap a plump stickle back that didn’t tip the scales at all came to the net. Mission accomplished so back to the serious stuff.

Orfe

Gold Fish

I had loads of Carp and got taken into the snags a few times, lost a few at the net….as always……

All in all I had a great morning session and was home in time to get my prezzies from my son and Grandson and have my Sunday lunch!

So thats why I keep getting snapped up by Sticklebacks!!! Been fishing too light. Nice report Shaun. We shall have to meet up for a session some time mate as I don't live too far from Bristol, & perhaps when the pub closes, we could do some fishing ;-)
