thoughts at the start

now tommorow the new season starts and some like myself will be on the a bank some where at midnight waiting to cast a line into the water to signify the season has started .
i can remember with great excitement the antisipatience of the wait which got unbearible at times as you resisted the temptation to cast out early.
although i fish all year round in the private lakes which allowed them to stay open i still believe that one second past midnight june the 15th is still the true start of the fishing season .
so i will for one be out again like i do every year waiting with the same excitement for the stroke of midnight .
with the start of the season my true summer campaign will be on the way and i will no longer have the dreaded fenland fever which i have been suffering from since march the 14th .
sadly though this year my long term fishing partner of 8 yrs has found women and will not being going alot so i will be doing alot more fishing on my own .but i will have two other freinds with me who will i hope help me share the enjoyments of my reports with you and they are colin the camera and his trusted side kick terry the tripod i know that was sad but i bet you had a rye smile when you read that .
so the question is am i ready and i hope so as the preparation has been timely and and alot of effort in prebaiting has gone on and so am i confident and the answer again is yes . but i,m hoping to get alot more from my fishing this year and the forum has made me appreciate alot more of my fishing enviroment which sometime i have totally took for granted sights sounds of what around me will be appreciated more and fishing not just about catching fish it being out there .
also i,ve got some good freinds on the forum now , i,ve now met a few and trips with some of them will be more common and i,m even going on holiday with some of ya and i know that will be a great laugh and a fun ,fished filled week is on the card i hope .
also with the autunm my favourite fishing of all will start and thats zandering
so i,ve got a packed season all ready, and i hope i can past on some more of my passion for fishing through my post to others .
so this is to all other forum members i hope i meet other great anglers like the ones i,ve met and if i don,t i hope you all catch well what ever species you fish for whether its Sea, Game or Coarse .
i hope all your reports are fished filled and you enjoy i know for one i will.
and one last thing i hope the community that has grown from richard passion for anglers grows bigger and all carry on with all the great reports, tips and technical help that i for one have learned alot from .

tightlines
baitmaster

Yep, tight lines Kev & looking forward to hearing how you got on. Don't think that June 16th still has the same magic now that still waters stay open all year though. Mind you I used to hate the old closed season & spent hours sorting out my tackle box & planning where to go on opening day. Never get a chance these days I read somewhere that even one of the old die hard clubs has decided to open up all year because having anglers there all the time keeps the cormorants away.

Re: thoughts at the start

Your reports and Pix are always great Kev. Keep it up and Good Luck.
We only have "seasons" on a couple of endangered species like Sturgeon. And then, its catch and release ONLY. Never lift the fish out of the water, take the stats (and pix) and send the stats to the Game & Parks Dept.

Re: thoughts at the start

I for one will be preoccupied Friday ( ) night but hope to be sober enough say by Monday to be able to get out on my local stretch of river. It's been a long time since I had a really good skin full but my best mate has just turned 40 and now it's my turn and we are going to enjoy it to the full. So if you see any reports of ungentlemanly conduct in or around the Leeds area you will know who to blame
