| Outwood colliery pond.14/06/06 Been on holiday at home for nearly a week now and having done all the gardening it was now time to enjoy a spot of puddle fishing. 04:00 out of the house for a short walk to my local pond, by 04:20 I was setup and fishing. The morning was a bit overcast but was still quite warm, fish were splashing all over the place but nothing seemed to be biting . My chosen species for today was Tench on the float. I was using a ground bait of brown crumb, sweetcorn, chopped up worms and bloodworm pellets. I was using 4lb line straight through to a size 18 hook with two red maggot. Around 04:45 it was as if their alarm clock had gone late and they were late for work rushing around eating anything they could get hold of , I couldn't chuck out a line without catching.Yes the small Rudd had moved in, now I'm not one to turn my nose up at catching anything but as I was after Tench, these were beginning to try my patience so I switched to a size 16 hook with two sweetcorn glugged in Bloodworm oil. It was not until around 05:30 before I saw any sign that the Tench were on the feed. You just can't beat the feeling, sitting there watching the small bubbles fizzing around your float and then watching the float slowly slip under the surface. It was only 2lb 4oz but a Tench is a Tench , It was about this time when I realised that the night before I had been posting new sales on ebay and had left my camera plugged into the computer .Not too much longer and a second and bigger (4lb 6oz female) Tench was in the net. It was starting to get really warm now as the sun was out in it's full glory, one last Tench from under the lily pads in the centre of the pond, this time 4lb on the dot male. Well that was it time to get the kids up for school(07:30). Just as I was setting of for home the heavens opened and down came the rain perfect end to the morning. We are having new windows fitted on Monday morning so I will be getting out of the way and this time I will remember the camera so next time there will be pictures. ![]() |

| Re: Outwood colliery pond.14/06/06 Yeah it was great no kids running about shouting and throwing stones at the ducks, no dogs pinching your bait just me the birds and the pond life (the kind of pond life you like not drunk teenagers throwing their empty beer cans in the water ). |
