Reepham - 01/06/06

First time out fishing today for a while, just wanted to relax and catch the odd fish, so decided to go to Reepham with Chris.

We arrived at the lake around 7.30am and managed to get into a swim in the middle of the "disabled parking lake".

I decided to get straight out so cast out 2 legers with boilies while I set up a float rod and my brolly as it was raining already.

There was a lot of splashing in most margins which meant the carp were spawning and it continued all day. The float rod was soon set up and I was about to put it out when the Strawberry & Ice Cream boilie rod went off and I was into a hard fighting fish.
It wasn't massive, but a gorgeous looking koi carp of around 3lb.

Not long after I was into another hard fighting fish and this time it was a bit bigger at around 4lb 8oz.

A nice dark common:

I got out the float rod and missed a decent bite before catching a few rudd on single sweetcorn.
However, the rain kept coming down so I decided to stick out the other leger and sit under the brolly and wait.

Chris was catching plenty on the float and a nice mix of species including rudd, roach, carp, crucians and fantails.
Most fish falling to corn on light tackle with the odd one on catmeat.

Just before lunchtime I had a nice run on a pineapple boilie which turned out to be a nice ghostie:

Chris was still catching consitently while my swim was pretty quiet. At around 1pm Kev called to wish me good luck, he also told he was on his way to a fishery he hadn't fished before hopefully for a night or 2, so I wished him luck and got back to my swim.

It was still quiet and Chris was still catching so I moved into the swim on his right which a few chaps had just left.
The bites came fast and I managed plenty of fantails with the odd rudd. I also caught another carp on the leger and a lovely crucian carp of 2lb 3oz:

Chris managed a few more carp before we left.

A nice session with plenty of fish to keep us busy even if the weather was pants.
