| sea dog get his peices of eight well i finally went down to bury hill fishery today where i meant pingudave and rob m who i now call (the sea dogs ). i got there a bit before them and was greeted at the gate by a small bird of prey which was a nice start cause they don,t come a pose for you very often shame i was not as good with the blooming camera (shame ) ![]() i watch it for a minute then it flew off to probably attack some unexpecting sparrow minding its own bussiness. i had a quick look at the fishery while i waited for the sea dogs to turn up and it all looked so tranquill in the early morning mist dancing across the surface ![]() soon they arrived and we greeted each other and had a quick chat and went in to the fishery and picked where we were going to fish and we decided to fish up close to the boat house with my peg being right next to it which i wanted as i had seen fish rising here first thing . soon the tackle was getting set up and i was soon out with the marker getting my area,s marked and clipped up . we all had are pegs next to each other so we could have a good social and a laugh . once the rod were all despatch i put the kettle on for a welcome brew for us all and soon the kettle was billowing steam into the early morning air and i summond the other for a drink. while this was going on other angler were going out in the boat s from the boat house and for a while it was like henley regatta buit it soon settle down . dave was soon into the first fish of the day a nice bream to get the ball rolling ![]() followed a while later by me with yet another nice bream ![]() and not to be left out rob thought he would join in and catch a bream to and not just catch it score point for the species hunt and i think also have a forum record 5lb 10oz i ask rob if he wanted me to knock it off for him erm i mean land it for him which he allowed ![]() after concratulating him on the capture it slowed down a bit and not a lot happen for a while but i did decide to reposition one of my rod along the front of the boat house thinking this would give me the best chance of a bury hill carp . the weather turned a bit pants dinner time and after a further couple of hours of drizzly rain a couple of the boats made there way back to the boathouse and on doing so i had a suspect take on my rod in the front of it and i missed it not to worry i soon had the rod placed perfectly back in front of the boathouse again and waited for action to commence which it did not .the three of us were having a real blast and getting a soaking in the process but we did not care it was now getting later afternoon and dave was in again to another bream and this one went 4lb 8oz ![]() we were happy that another fish had come are way but dave decided that this was not going be the case for long as his quiver tip arched round and he was in for the fourth time but this one gave dave a dogged fight but it soon surface and to his delight and ours it was a tench .nice one dave thought need one of them for the species hunt and it also broke his personel best tench too this went 5lb 8oz what a cracker well done dave ![]() now dave was very happy and his rod was back out but not for as he was soon into another and showing me and rob how it should be done like a man possessed . this was soon landed and released and at this point i had a nother run this time i was in to a carp and it was trying to make it s escape under the boathouse and i applied as much pressure as i dare to keep it from getting under but alas i could not and the line parted company and it msade its escape i was a bit dissapointed but there was nothing i could do about it . but this was soon forgot as dave was yet again into another bream rob was now having to use his other hand to keep score of dave catches today and this one made the half dozen . through gritted teeth me and rob congratulated him and his rod was soon back out to the area where dave was catching now the bream were queueing up to come to his net lucky seven for dave this was really good to watch even though me a rob were having a quiet time we did not mind being shown how it was done by the old sea dog and yes you guessed it dave was yet into his 8th of the session another cracking bream the rain was now easing up and so were dave bites and at this point we called it a day and all packed up happly ./ we loaded are cars and had a qanother quick chat reflecting on the day and were all in agreement that it had been a awesome social and some personel best were had too . thank rob and dave for making it a cracking day for me tightlines kevin ![]() |

| Re: sea dogs get his peices of eight Thanks Kev and Dave for a cracking day out! Despite the rain, we managed to laugh a lot and catch a few fish too. Extra well done to Dave for making mine and Kev's carp tactics redundant and showing us the way with the feeder and luncheon meat. Best tactics of the day without a doubt and that Tench was really impressive. Here's to the next one! Rob |
