| soggy but successful what a day,got to the lake at about 2 am,it was chilly but dry,not for long, the piking god just about gave me time to set up and then it started raining, and it barely stopped after that, had nothing during darkness, the only excitement was a mink who was rather interested in my herrings ,no sooner had it got light i had my first run,my half herring had been picked up and a short while later a nice double lay in my net, trouble was it only fought like a jack, never mind,13lb it weighed and soon went back. things got a little quiet for a couple of hours ,i kept re-casting to likely looking haunts and about 10.30 i had a slow pick up on the half herring again,i had only recast it a couple of minutes before. this was obviously a better fish, the tell tale head shake led me to believe it was a good one, well it took line to the right and the left and a very exciting 10 minute fight ensued, after netting and quickly unhooking (nicely in the scissors ) she turned the scales at 20lb 2oz,my first 20 of the season and 10th overall. as soon as i returned her the float shot under on one of the other rods and a lively little 3 pounder came in. and that was that,i stayed for the rest of the day without so much as a sniff, the rain didn't stop at all and i got thoroughly soaked through. i know we need rain, but does have to when i am bloody fishing !! a good day,the fishing was excellent, the wildlife super (i saw kingfishers, mink, herons and a bittern ) not very comfortable but i will put up with that. ![]() Last edited by Norfolkboy; 02-12-2006 at 06:19 PM. |
