Smile bury hill sat 4th feb

well I wasnt really sure if this trip would be on or not,
been pretty much stuck as home alone with kids so took off to mums on weekend for respite and beer and hopefully
Iwas hoping to get the whole day and meet rob again, but the best laid plans (and family ) it all went too pot,
But the boot was loaded just in case and after having driven180miles to my parents for 10.30am I glugged a coffee and dumped my kids on grandma(thanks Mum ) then a quick txt too rob(who unfortunately couldnt make it)
managed too get too the lake for 11.30
paid the extortionate fees again and was seriously in serch of zander(or pike)
read up the last few days on pike and zander posts so went for roach baits in middle runs between bank and island

well after 2 hours nothing happening
there were people all arround the lake and no fish being landed anywhere
most fun was watching people 3 pegs down positioning there carp rigs by bait boating them out and then asking friends in punt too place exactly where they wanted(too the inch) and still catching nothing

so anyway i changed tactics as was getting a bit parky and threw a lure on the end off one rod and staurted plugging away, 4th or 5 th cast lost waht looked(and felt) too be a double figure pike
but persevered
about 30mins later was really pleased too get a jack of about 4lb

continued on untill dusk but that unfortunately was it.
unfortunately no zander but was really happy too have landed something when saw no one else catching

then managed more then a few beers with brother in evening
cheers

dave

and for interest if anyone else goes to bury hill I was on peg 36 and where the willow has been cut down between 36 and 37 most off the branches are underwater about 8 feet from the bank(as i lost 1 lure in them and snagged several times)

Thumbs up Re: bury hill sat 4th feb

Nice report Pingu & shame about the big one that you lost. Definately got me inspired to do a bit of lure fishing tomorrow on the river.

Re: bury hill sat 4th feb

nice read there pingu
don,t know what it is about bury hill every time i here it mentioned i just want to jump in the car and go fish ,
funny thing is never fished but keep wanting to maybe its because it has zander in it .
least you enjoyed it although it was a difficult day least the bait boat amused you

tightlines
