Dorset fishing anyone?

I have the urge to get my coarse gear out again as the sea fishing is pretty dire. Just wondering if anyone would like a day out maggot drowning sometime, maybe Pallington Lakes or Lyons Gate?

Jon

Re: Dorset fishing anyone?

Hi John.

I went up to Revels on Sunday to try for a Pike. Unfortunatly I didn't have much luck with the pike. However I did set up my maggot drowning gear and caught a couple of miny Perch. I didn't have much time but it was a lovely morning and there seemed to be quite a few fish moving about.

I will be having a go next week sometime if you fancy it.

Re: Dorset fishing anyone?

warmwell is rubbish, too overfished because of the holiday makers but should be ok for maggot fishing, try down weymouth swannary for maggot fishing, got some big perch and rud in there, also big carp.

Re: Dorset fishing anyone?

Hi Paul.

I got my fishing partner (Devon Born, Dorset Bred) to find out how Warmwell is fishing, as he has been doing some work there for the past couple of weeks.
According to the owner it is fishing fantasticly for Pike. However a couple of the more regular fishermen say that it is fishing reasonably well.
As for Warmwell being rubbish, I would not agree in that statement. They have a new owner there now and they have done a lot of work on the lakes. Including restocking the specimen lake with Carp up to 40lb during the last month. They have moved most of the pike into the specimen lake as well. There has been a 28lb Pike come from the lake this month.
As for fishing Radipole Lake in Weymouth, make the most of it because from next season it will be a syndicate lake. I personaly don't like fishing Radipole as it has very few swims and half of them back on to a road. Not the most pleasant of lakes.
