| Experiementing with Bread Using bread seems to have died its death, you never seem to hear of great catches being caught with it anymore. I've decided that this year i am going to use bread as my main bait regardless of conditions, everytime i go. I have a few ideas that i'm going to start with but would like to hear about your's and their sucess rate. Has anybody ever tried croutons, or different colured/flavoured croutons? How long do they stay hard for. Also with regards to flavouring bread has anyone given this ago, does it ruin the bread or can it be dried out. Cheers i look forward to your replys |

| Re: Experiementing with Bread Bread is a very good bait and althoungh I have not done much dark side fishing over the last year , the year before had a carp just over 25lb on floating crust , loads of bream roach tench and chub . Its just a top bait As for flavours - I kind of leave it alone and buy good quailty bread and this will be packed with sent but saying that I will use mermite some times when fishing on the surface Any other thoughts guys __________________ Richard|Sea Fishing |Carp Fishing| Spud Gun | Zander fishing | Fishing Reports | Hunting Reports |

| I still recon breads the top freshwater bait & almost always sorts out the better fish, especially tench, bream & roach. It,s amazing how big a piece of flake a big bream or tench will slurp down. I usually use a piece about the size of a 10p peice on a size 6 drennan specimen hook.I still mourn the passing of the old Energen diet bread rolls. They were rock hard until soaked in water. Then they had a texture like tough cotton wool which the fish could not suck of the hook. You could use the same piece over & over again. As for flavours I don,t usually bother except to ocasionally smear a bit of soft blue cheese on a bit of crust for chub. I find that bread works well fished over a bed of the Red Van Den Eynde Expo groundbait mixed 50/50 with brown crumb & a few caster. ![]() __________________ One man's fish is another man's poissons http://www.deepsea.co.uk http://www.wildtrout.org |

| Re: Experiementing with Bread I've heard of, here, wadding up a hard ball of "Wonder bread" (cheap bleached flower, white bread that roaches won't even eat) fished on the bottom for catfish. But I've also heard largemouth bass hitting on them too. I've also heard the record bass for some southern state was caught by a small boy on earthworm(lobworm) and french-fry(chips) mashed up together with bits of paper napkin for consistency. Fish, evidently don't read the books and magazines. ![]() __________________ A bad day fishing is better than a good day working!
