change of scenery ,the report

well it didn't turn out as good as i expected(do they ever ?).
the day started out badly,i had a nightmare journey to the river, they are building a by-pass ,
when i got there the usual entrance was shut and padlocked,i was told i had to go another way round -through a farm !.
the farm tracks may be ok for a tractor or a 4x4 but definately not a mondeo,i got stuck in the mud ,
after 10 minutes of struggling i managed to get out and found the river,it looked nice but because of the bad driving conditions i couldn't get very close to where i wanted to go,i loaded up the trolley and started the route march only for the bloody trolley wheel to come off after 500 yards spilling the entire contents all over the thick glutinous mud .
after sorting out that mess i decided to fish near the car (i had just about had enough by then ) and got reasonably comfortable in a little swim surrounded by trees .
first cast and all my gear got lost in the tree ,re-tackled and successfully cast out this time with a lobworm and had a nice bite on the quiver tip almost immeadiately,i struck into a quite heavy fish which came off half way in,by the fight i think it was a bream,
caught the odd roach after that, only small though.
the highlight of my day came about midday,a small pike of about 4lb took my lobworm on the retrieve and gave me a good battle for a few minutes on 3lb line and an 18 hook,
packed up at 3.30,cold and muddy ,a least i had 3 points for the species hunt i thought,
wrong ! ,i forgot,if i take the batteries out of the camera i lose the pictures,so i won't be claiming these points,i'm sorry partner, there's plenty of time this year to get a roach and a pike,

all in all a bit of a grueller but like i said it was a change of scenery
