a cold day at the office(Bury Hill)

well just had a cracking day with Rob M at Bury Hill today
turned up at 7.150 dark , v cold and slippery
rob turned up at 7.45 so we lifted gear, paid the kings ransom£16 ( thats 4 trips out too my local lake) and headed off to find lakea slowly emerging from the morning gloom

found our 2 swims and set up
Rob was carp only using boilies and bags
I had one for carp(size 10 and boilie) and one feeder for anything(size 16) multi mix groundbait crumb, maggot, corn and hemp
my swim

Rob at repose and expectant

well despite the cold it was a lovely day , ( other side of lake never thawed out all day) even started getting icicles on rod tip after reeling in

I switched to a float rod and even makkiie for pike/zander trying to get anything well all i can say was the wildlife was pretty as are the surroundings
but i cant vouch for any fish
We failed completely

but had a cracking day and will hope to fish there again with rob in summer as looks a cracking lake

hi bm
a zander was nearly landed on the next peg up but lost on netting

there were plenty of peeps trying for pike and zander from boat and shore very few landed though, did notice you can livebait(and buy there) there are plenty of other rules think rob knows more

Re: a cold day at the office(Bury Hill)

Thanks Dave for doing the report, my hands have just about thawed out now It was a great day, no fish, but who cares? It was good to be out, with good company and of course a Pingu pie for lunch! Here's some more pics:

My frozen landing net:

Morning:

Lovely view of the lake, Dave baiting up to the left:

Couple more shots:

Thanks for meeting up Dave, always a pleasure mate. For those guys after info, the Bury Hill website is pretty good: http://www.bury-hill-fisheries.co.uk/

Most predator guys fish float-fished live (they sell trout and roach) and dead baits up there, the boats are very popular and you can cover the entire lake. Lot cheaper than fishing from the bank too. From what I've seen, spinning is quite popular too. But I fish for mainly carp up there, so thats about all I know really. Anyway, I'd be up for a meet, to get some tips from the experts

Cheers
Rob
