Talking Wellow lake today

Managed to get a pass out for the afternoon so headed up to Wellow late morning, decided to spend a couple of hours trying to tempt them on the surface, after a few misses i caught this one 9lb 11, on banded dog biccie As i lifted into it, i pretty much just reeled it in, until it got to the net then decided to put up a fight. Was pretty happy with this one, 2nd largest fish i've ever caught, and why do i seem to always catch my biggest fish of the day first catch ?

Since the fish were taking quite a while to take the bait, i decided to change bait, since dog biccies get all soggy in no time. I cut down some pop ups to mixer size and used a small band as a hair, pulling it through the bait. The band sits in the middle of it pretty good, with no need for a bait stop. Think i'll start doing all hair fishing this way, very versatile i found.

Missed a few fish then fished two rods, one on the surface, one on the waggler, another took the pop up and fought all the way to the net, getting a little bit tangled up with my other line . 6lb9.

It had been pretty busy at the lake, couple of yobbos other side swearing burping and being generally very fooking annoying, what do you do ? I put up with them and thought 'syndicate water, mmmmm i wish !!' not sure if i can put up with day ticket waters !! But i like the fish in this one. Then caught two more carp to 5lb, then this lovely tench, and lost 2 more carp. Best bit for me was learning some new baiting techniques.
