Went trout fishing today

All we have (somewhat) locally to catch are farm trout (rainbows), but that's ok...at least there is something to fish for. My fishin' buddy and I buzzed up to Jenks Lake (San Bernardino Mountains in Southern California, USA) today after school. I caught 3 and he caught 2...enough for supper! We just cooked up my catch...beer-battered trout with beer-battered fries (chips for you English folk). Supper's on the table now, so all I can do is make your mouth water with a picture of it The US Dollar Bill is there for scale...a dollar bill is 6 inches in length (15 cm). Yum!

Re: Went trout fishing today

Actually took them on some floating bait from Zeke's! I'd like to learn how to flyfish but nobody I know flyfishes...

I do have some of my great granddaddy's wet flies. I sometimes do OK casting them off with a small split shot and a spinning reel. Only problem with that is that this lake is filled with weeds and I don't have a boat of any type, and I've lost lots of lures in the weeds...it would not be good to lose some family heirlooms (the flies).
