Embley (TVAC) night fishing

Managed a night last friday down at embley. Got there just before dark and setup in a very much over look swim about halfway down the opposite bank, with some good margin cover and good margin depth. A few small lillies out front too.

Baited up with some pellats. Boilies on the hook. Was happily setup in about 20 mins and was just getting settled in when the left rod went off. A nice 7lc carp, put up a nice little scrap, even if it was a bit over powered!

Then I dozed off, only to be woken up about midnight by another run, this time on the right hand rod. Couldnt see a thing as this mist had really rolled down the hills and filled the lake, so all I saw with my torch was whiteness!! Anyway lost it in the lillies, hook pulled out, felt reasonable, though I dont think it was the 20 i was after. That was about 11.30.

Just settled down again and the right rod screemed off, just as I was warm too! This time the line snapped on the strike, that'll teach me for not checking my line after it has been through the lillies!

So rigged up again bited up and popped it out. Set my alarm for 5.30 to get the best of the early morning and hopefully some tench. Alarm went off, so I got up, very wearily and made some special groundbait.

Made up my avon rod with a lift method float and realised I had left my bread at home, but I still had maggots and worms, plus some paste. Anyway, first cast, must have been there 10 seconds and it slides nicely under, with worm on the end. The strike met with a nice resistance and a 4lb tench fought all the way to the net.

After that I had bits for an hour, producing 2 eels and 2 lost carp and 1 lost tench. The carp and tench were a good size too, just overpowering me on 6lb line and my avon rod.

I decided to go for a walk, seeing if I could stalk some fish. Found a few bubblers and had a few bites. Managed to hook 2 but lost them both!! It was definitely one of those days.

So i went back to my swim and hooked another carp first cast, but lost that too!

I packed up around 10 after having a nap.

A lovely day, some nice pics to follow tomorrow.

Got another night planned for this friday at embley too, this time with my new bivvy!!

Cheers

Marc

Well done Marc.

Shame about all the lost fish....something need sorting out there do you think? Blunt hook perhaps, or small hair if using a hair rig..
