Bury Hill 1st Sept 2005...

... or good things come to those that wait! Well, I fished Bury Hill's main lake today in my quest for a double-figure carp and a PB. Got there at 12pm and set up in my swim:

I was fishing two rods with hair rigs, size 6 Raptor hooks and 16mm Caviar and Cranberry boilies. I fed my swim with Marine Hailbut pellets, little and often. Nothing happened other than line bites for a few hours. Halfway through the afternoon I got a visit from the missus and my son who showed me how skilful he already is with a net:

After they left, I decided to change tactics and made up some PVA stringers (using the same boilies) which I cast out to identical spots as before:

Within 5 minutes I had a screaming run on my right rod and after a 10 minute fight brought a 16.5 lb Linear to the net. Unfortunately there was no-one nearby to take a picture of me holding it, so I took one in the net before I weighed it. Apologies for the crap pic:

Anyway, that was it for the session, but I'm well chuffed it is the largest fish I have ever caught and a PB. I sent a text to Dave (Pingu) as we had a bet on to see who got a double first. He has asked if Richard can open the forum bar tonight and buy everyone a drink on the house!

Anyway, next goal - A twenty!!

Rob
