Best day yet!

Last tuesday was my best day yet! Out on a local flood control lake near the city(Omaha) in a park called Chalco on the lake named Wehrspann(dam site 20)
I took a buddy from my old job, who knows how to fish (so I wouldn't have to baby-sit all day) We got a tub of Canadian night crawlers and 2 dozen minnows and were on our way by 8:00.
We went straight to the deepest part of the lake and I dropped a minnow to the bottom, drop shot style and immediatly pulled in a nice little crappie. My partner lobbed a heavy line w/a gob of night crawler on a big hook as far as he could chuck it, got nothing on it all day. For his other line (we're allowed 2 w/up to 2 hooks ea. in Nebraska) he put out a bobber w/a 3 foot drop, no weight and a minnow. It took him awhile but he pulled in a few crappie too, and 1 bluegill. It was soo hot, I'm suprised he got any, so shallow, It was only supposed to get up to 86f but the news that night said it was 93f...7 degrees is a lot to a fish(& couple fat boys)
I was pulling crappie in the whole time. I even pulled in 1 lil'walleye, it suprised me because I had cast toward the shore, trying to get bluegill. I thought I had, when it put up almost no fight, til we got close enough to see each other, then he must've thought he should at least try to act like a walleye.
My buddy should've taken the hint to go to the bottom too. He finally did when we motored to the dam and started a drift in the breeze toward the east shore. We both pulled in a few more crappie but the warrantee on the minnows had lapsed and they were getting really tired in that sun.
We finally headded back to the dock about 2 or so hauled our $h!t in and headded straight to a good lunch w/ some nice air conditioning.
I went home, got a nap and sat on my can pondering such a nice day!!
My friend was too macho to put on sun screen and I'm sure he's paying for it now...won't admit it.
I had to buy a new deep cycle bat. early that morning. I knew the old one had a bad cel but it was still an expence I didn't want. I have a 10foot plastic boat, they call them mini-bass boats around here. I call it my Tub, but really its perfect for the small flood control waters around here. That and the strongest 12v trolling motor available at the time and I think I'm set prety well. Regs say that you aren't supposed to make a wake (will erode the bank) so theres a 5mph speed limit on the water. I clouldn't if I wanted to.
Some water gets really choked up w/vegitation near the shore by mid summer so unless you flail a path through it w/heavy tackle for awhile, your best bet is a boat, float tube, mini-pontoon, or anything to get to the middle.
I wish I was alot more computer savy and had a digital camera so I could show you what and where. I'm sorry, I'm a cave-man I don't even have a comp., I'm at the library now. The best I can do for now is send you to the state parks website <http://.ngpc.state.ne.us/> for pix of the fish and some of the water in Nebraska(NE) and the Papio-Missouri River Nat.Res.Dis for the flood control waters <http://www.papionrd.org/>
Good luck and good fish'in

Has anyone tried to pull up the Game&Parks or N.R.D. sites? Did it work? I tried to find a road map or something for England, to get an idea where some of you might be. Could'nt find squat!? I wonder if the London bombings have anything to do with it, I wouldn't be suprised. I think the U.S. is too open sometimes, I can find aeriel maps with photos of my truck in my driveway. I wonder who else is looking?

The site wouldn't come up for awhile, now the aerial views won't come up anymore.
