Reepham - 14th July

Arrived at the lake around 8.30am and had to quickly tell my dad what to do when he gets a fish (how to strike, how to play it etc..) as he hadn't been since last year and said he couldn't remember what to do.

Weather was sunny and overcast during the day and mid twenties.

We were fishing 1 rod each, either freelining worm or dog biccies on the top.

First cast in and within 10 seconds I was into a fish, after a great fight landed a nice common of about 4lb:

What a start!

I got my dad set up and he was freelining a worm, after a few rudd he was into his 1st carp of the year, not a monster but a good start to get him used to playing fish again:

Next "fish" was a crayfish on worm:

I decided to try and get them feeding on top again so sprinkled 5 biscuits out, it wasn't long before the fry were nibbling at them and soon followed the carp.

The next fish was to me and after a great fight was this 6lb 8oz mirror:

Next cast and I was in again, the smallest of the day at around 1lb:

I was wondering if my dad was gonna catch another one but he did not long after lunch and went 5lb. The fish looked a lot better in the flesh (really golden!)

The last fish was a nice 5lb mirror to me:

Finished at 2 as the sun had got to us and we're knackered!

Great fun all the same, and better than being at work
