Smile Roughton night session

My last fishing trip of the holidays was a night session at an old haunt I used to fish; Roughton Fisheries.

We arrived at the lake around 9:30 to find a bloke in our intended swim, a quick chat found out, he was not doing a night so if we didn't get much from another swim we would move to that swim when he left.

We were both using boilies on the rods, Chris fishing 3 on bite alarms (source on 2, pineapple on the other), 1 on quiver tip (sweetcorn particle, not boilie)

I fished 2 on bite alarm (source and strawberry and ice cream)

Chris was first to catch after 2 hours, a nice mirror of 7lb 9oz(s==t photo):

The bloke next to us in quick succesion, caught 2 carp of around 9lb, so our moved look liked it would be a good one.

Only another small carp of around 1lb on sweetcorn was what we got before the guy left, so we quickly jumped in his swim. We were the only 2 doing the night except 1 other guy.

The weather was really mild until around 8 pm when it really got cold, so I jumped in the bivvy around 11pm with Chirs staying out all night

As soon as I got on my bedchair the distinct tone of my bite alarm went off (surely this was him having a "laugh", but no as I got out I could see him standing over my rod and I quickly hit it before him (hehe) a lovely 11lb common graced the net, that's when we found out my camera REALLY is rubbish as it can't take decent pics in the dark:

He has 1 on his camera of me holding it which I should get tomorrow.

I decided to stay out for another hour or 2, and we sat down to a lovely stove cooked full englsih brekky in a tin ( ), it tasted great.

Nothing except the odd line bite, so I went in the bivvy until around 6am when the sound of a bite alarm woke me up, to find everything frozen (the net, mat, weight sling etc... it was a cold night but, I didn't think it was that cold.

Anyway as Chris washed the ice off with a bit of lake water, I landed a really nice looking 8lb mirror:

Photo's taken and she quickly went back in the lake when Chris's alarm went off and he landed a nice 7lb common:

Around 9am after beans and hot dogs, mmmmm Chris caught a nice tench of around 2lb:

We packed up around 11am, and had a great time

Re: Roughton night session

Thanks Rob

Just have to add, most of the fish gave poor fights, except the smallest fish at 1lb

Strange as most fish in the lake used to fight like demons...

Cool Re: Roughton night session

Nice post and read Dan.

Excellent night session then...... funny how somw fish in certain water temps and conditions don't seem to fight that well, and others of a smaller size go like hell... But that's fishing!

Well done again Dan
