Deer's Glade today

We arrived at the lake around 8:30am and were the only ones to fish it the whole day.

It was very windy and wet, with the sun coming out only for the last 2 hours.

Baits used were maggots, db roach, spinners and sweetcorn.

I decided to go for perch during the day, Chris going for carp.

For the first 3 hours we had nothing, extremely windy and tough conditions to fish in.

We decided to feeder fish maggots, with maggots on the hook. I was using 5lb line and size 16 hook, we started to catch some nicel roach:

Chris then got a good bite on sweetcorn and caught the 1st carp of the day, a small 1 of around 2lb.

We then decided to go round the lake and do a bit of float fishing. We were catching tiny perch and stickleback

(pics are really naff )

Chris then caught another carp on maggots, around 4lb

I then caught my 1st and only carp of the day on maggots, a nice little 1 around 3.5lb:

That was it for the rest of the day, but not too bad, only the weather spoiling it

Re: Deer's Glade today

cool sounds like a good day! i fished that place once n i used a spiner for perch and landed about 5 perch! the biggest being 1lb 7oz - its quite a good fun way of fishing! thats woz for half the day then i just float fished for roach n w/e else woz there wiv a white maggot on size 18 hook and 3lb hooklength with 5lb line! prob a bit over the top but o well! the biggest fish was a roach just under 1lb so not a bad day!

on that day tho, sumtime last summer it was totaly calm and overcast so prob perfect conditions for fishing a lake like that!! mwaahah yay, lol!

have fun mate and good luck!

Re: Deer's Glade today

Have been told spinning is good for the perch in there, my mate had a 3lb+ fish on spinner.

Will wait til the weather is more still and a bit warmer. Where abouts were you catching them on the spinner, which end of the lake etc..

Re: Deer's Glade today

No worries, there's 2 islands , and every peg is within casting distance Will try round the whole lake if it's not too busy

Can you remember what sort of spinner it was caught on? :)
