The First and Probably not the Last Time i'll be Taking a Woman Fishing!

Hello everyone,

Ok, Ok this might not be what you all are thinking!

It was the first time i took my new pup fishing with me!

My fishing partner James and i fished a new lough from 7.30am to around midday and only lost the one pike with none landed! So we thought we'd go to our old faithful for a few hours before i had to return home to make the 1.5hour journey to University for this week. On the way through i decided to pick up the pup from home and bring her with us!

To say she enjoyed it was an understatement, lets just say i am glad she isn't keen on the water at the minute or i could guarantee she would have been out after our baits when we were casting!

It wasn't long before we starting getting a few runs and to say the least it got the dog interested in the rods!

It wasn't long after the above picture that we hooked the first pike, as soon as the pike broke the surface Maisie started barked her head off, i'm not sure if she was scared or what was going on in her head! The fish was landed without any mishaps and was on the bank safely. Now the fish was on land Maisie wasnt so brave, she was keeping her distance but eventually gave into suspicion and came over to investigate! Let's just say i think she might be a permanent fixture on the bank with me from now on when it is possible

The pike was somewhere around the 8lb mark and we had 2 more of a similar size within the next few hours.

Off fly fishing on wednesday afternoon so hopefully i'll have a report on wednesday night for everyone.

Cheers,

Justin

Nice report, nice pictures, nice puppy. Speaking of dogs; a couple of years ago I was fishing chesil one afternoon when I got a real rod bending bite. I stood up, grabbed the rod and began pumping and reeling as I walked down to the water's edge. Unbeknown to me a woman walked by with her dog, and while I was away from my gear the bloomin' animal woofed back all my bait; three score of lug and a mackerel. Needless to say my session came to an early end. Lol.

Great report and nice pictures

Maybe as she gets older Maisie will learn to sit and guard your rods and let you know if your bobbins move while you have a break just like Bob James’s dogs did in ‘A Passion for Angling’; that would be great.

Re: The First and Probably not the Last Time i'll be Taking a Woman Fishing!

Nice one budd. Tried taking our dog fishing year old colly fro
a farm.

Let's just say no wonder the farmer wanted rid! There are sheep close by one barred away and bells hid and shaked in my bivvy. Later on the geese and ducks visited she once again hid in the back of the bivvy shaking and crying.

Never known such a scared dog. Wouldn't changer her tho a character and a half
