River Ellen: Cumbria

Hi.
Visited the river Ellen in Maryport today. 'River Ellen Information'

4 catches in total using someone elses Mepps comet lures in small.


Fish we caught were all tiny... brown trout and my friend caught a tiny salmon, we released them all of course. I was wondering if a better lure would improve fish size we catch? any examples please

Also is there any online guides or techniques to catch better, I was just casting up river, and allowing it to curve until I was reeling into the current?
