Henfold Lakes - Day out with my lad

Firstly, what a good decision I made not to sell my coarse fishing gear, otherwise I wouldn't have had a great time like today. Ben, my 8 year old son, has been begging me to take him fishing since our last visit a couple of weeks ago when he caught some crucian carp. I sorted him out with a Middy whip/mini pole and decided to bring my carp gear that I could just set up and leave on the alarms while I spent time with Ben:



Ben was eagerly waiting for me to show him to how to set up a float and get him fishing. He fished 2 maggots on a size 16 hook over a sweetcorn loose feed. It didn't take him long to catch, starting with 2 gudgeon:





He kept asking me to use luncheon meat and when he did, he got into the bream, culminating in an impressive one of about 2lb:



In all, Ben caught 6 bream and 2 gudgeon, not too bad for his age!

All carp about 5lb but very welcome! In all I had 5 with 2 bream. All taken on Mainline Cell boilies.

I was so proud of my lad today, it's the first time I've seen him sit for so long and concentrate on an activity as usually he's constantly at 100mph. I think I might be taking him on a few more over the coming months, he wants to visit Bury Hill next and who am I to argue?
