Another short session at local lake I didnt fancy sitting in tonight, and thought I would make the most of the sunshine, so nipped down the local lake, with my trusty chum mixer, and paid 3 pounds for an evening ticket (from 5pm to dusk). I thought the lake would have been busier with it being a sunny bank holiday monday, but only a handful of anglers on my arrival. Freelined chum mixer, as usual. Things didnt go as planned however, as I chucked a few mixers in a couple of swims, mainly in the margins, and kept going back and forth between them - no sign of any fish at all. One lad caught one while I was checking the swims, he was fishing a controller float hard against the island. In fact over the next hour or so he had 3 or 4, and I had none. It got to about 7.15pm, and a couple of anglers packed up and left. I moved into one of the vacated swims, as I had caught a few from that swim on my last trip. Just as the sun was starting to go down, and the the shadows were getting longer - the fish started feeding on my chum floaters. I landed 5 fish in an hour, all to floaters, and missed loads more. Great fun, with the biggest just under 13lb. It was getting a bit dark, and hard to see my chum mixer on the surface, plus the handle of my reel broke as I was bringing the last fish to the net, so it was time to pack up, and head home. Nice session for a couple of hours. Biggest of the session, just under 13lb [IMG] [/IMG]Another fat n hungry carp, just as it got dark [IMG] [/IMG]Nice and peaceful, not a breath of wind ![]() [IMG] [/IMG]

Re: Another short session at local lake Nothing expensive, it was an Okuma reel - have had a couple over the years, and they have been quite reliable, but I reckon I must have dropped it in the past and damaged the handle without realising....until tonight.

Re: Another short session at local lake Cracking fish Baz, nice pics too well done bud. Shame about the reel handle though, I like Okuma reels, have a couple of baitrunners (Interceptor 60s), had them a few years now. Anyway, nice report ![]() Peter ![]() ![]()
