| Catterick match practice. No match on Sunday but fished a practice session at Catterick match lake. Fished it like a match, starting at 10 and fishing through till 3pm. Had a few F1's on corn fishing groundbait feeder tight to the island. Fed 2 lines at 6metres with a few damp micros and switched to these with banded pellet on the pole after the first hour. Slow again but, dropped in a few more micros, altered my depth to lay on and after a while the skimmers started to show and then a few lovely big slabs, one of them a new PB at 8.2lb. Gave my 12 elastic a good stretch before turning over. Went back on feeder for the last hour and hair rigged corn and catmeat this time to net 2 chunky carp of 7 and 9lbs. Overall, just over 30lb in the net - not the best weight but a big improvment on my weight in the match there last week. Getting better. I think making a few tweeks to my new pole rigs helped and also, made up my own hair rigs for the feeder rod and they are a million times better than the ready tied ones I've been using. Any info on upcoming open matches in North Yorks/Durham or Teesside would be appreciated. Thanks. |
