Talking Captain Pingu still bringing me luck at Town Parks

I had a few days booked on at Town Parks for Friday the 5th Saturday 6th finishing Sunday.

I arrived Friday about 10.30am and set up on peg 10 which occupies the back island. My nephew Flyn came as a birthday treat and had peg 1 which occupies the other side of the island.

Missed bites!!!!

I had two good runs from just of the island one snagged me and the other ran round the front of the island. The most gutting was losing a 20lb common.
I later discovered that fishing slack lines were to blame. The fish had picked up the rig run back towards me and around the island not setting the alarms off or alerting me to the situation and tangled in another guys line he then hand lined the carp in.

I then changed the rigs and put 3oz leads on to combat the problem and used flying back leads and back leads.

1st fish

The first fish fell to my little nephew form just of the island a nice little mirror carp. Once landed on closer inspection the carp had my chod rig in his mouth.(one hungry carp) I was glad to rid him of the rig and also pleased that the rig worked as it was suppose to.

My first fish was a nice 14lb 9oz to a floater offered with freebie dog biscuit. She was not best pleased and tore off up the lake.

During the night I had one missed screamer at 4am but action was very slow which is unusual for Town Parks.

Saturday

started of very slowly, I kept the bait going in on the areas that I had baited thinkink that the carp would soon move in. there was a lot of jumping and crashing almost as if the carp were going to spawn again as they had grouped up. My friend needed some bits from Torbay tackle so at 12 we set of leaving the wife in charge. We had only just left town parks when the dreaded phone call came “Haha ive just landed a 19lb 2oz mirror” as I had just left I was very scepticle as my scales had broke so I asked if there was picture proof which I was told yes.

On returning to the lakes I was greeted with comments of “the wife is showing you how to fish” sure enough when back in the swim there was a picture. A new PB for the wife. Helen had another carp around the 14lb mark. Now she is hooked.

I let my friend take a rod as he was struggling for bites. He managed a nice plump common around the 13lb mark.

i had another common of 12lb

Flyn was doing extremely well on his landing four fish from the island and a margin spot.

whilst i was helping Flyn i noticed the wife was playing another fish!!!

There were no takes during the night again so still catfish less but trying hard.

The final tally's was Flyn 5 carp to 13lb Helen 2 carp to 19lb 2oz and my self 2 carp to 14lb 9oz

My lucky captain Pingu

Well done TJ, great post, and pics, and some lovely carp too. I am thinking of trying Town Parks soon in any case, and will definately give it a go now.

Re: Captain Pingu still bringing me luck at Town Parks

Ia good lake to fish. Can be a little peggy tho pegs 1, 2, 6, 7, 9, 10, 15 and 16 seem to be the better pegs. If you have a bait boat then either pegs 1 2 9 and 10 being my preferred choices.
