Overnighter for the lads

Decided to take my son and his mate carp fishing overnight at a local lake. Overloaded the car with bivvy for me, tent for them, bucket of method mix, bag of chum mixer, enough burgers, sausages and bacon to feed an army, and we were off.
We got to the lake a little later than planned. It was a nice warm, sunny evening, so we decided to try some chum mixer (as we always do!) for an hour or two before dark. Aaron managed to get 2 off the surface, about 7 or 8lb. I found a swim with a couple of carp in the margins, but for some reason I just couldnt hook them despite fish taking my chum mixer readily. I couldnt put my finger on it but I think I must have tied the hair rig different or something as I usually manage to bag a couple myself, and the hooks just kept pulling.
Anyway, the sun started to go down, so we put up the tent and bivvy while we still had light. I then set up the method feeder rigs, and by that time it was dark, and our bellies rumbling.
Baits out, alarms set and we then demolished several bacon rolls, copious amounts of tea and them some sausages..mmm.
By 1 a.m. my sons friend and I had one carp each, just below double figures. We decided to get some kip for a couple of hours. Overnight the wind picked up, and I emerged from the bivvy at 0530, to a damp and dismal morning. The lads were still asleep, and just grunted when asked if they were getting up. I chucked out my method feeder, and was busy getting the waterproofs out from the back of the bivvy when the bite alarm went off - a carp of 10lb.
Cast out again, started donning my waterproofs, and bite alarm goes off again - another nice carp about the same size. By this time the sound of the bite alarm going off had roused the 2 zombies in the tent. I had just cast out again, put the rod in the rest, and off it went again - this time a carp of 11lb 8oz. Three carp in 3 casts - within 20 minutes - great fun. The lads took a photo of the 11lb 8oz carp.
Needless to say, things quietened down, apart from the rain that is, with the odd carp coming to us throughout the day. The method mix was running low, so I opted to try some chum mixer again as the rain had eventually stopped. I put on a different hair rig (not trusting the one I had used the evening before). Sure enough, a couple of carp eventually showed up to take mixers, and it was only minutes before I had one hooked. A carp around 10lbs. I tried another few swims but nothing. As I was walking past the swim where I had got the carp earlier, I decided to chuck in a couple more mixers, and another carp showed. Hooked this one too, and landed a nice fat, very broad carp of 12lb 10oz. My last fish of the day, but the biggest.
All in all a great session, which left us tired, damp, but happy, with 4 carp each for my son and his mate, and 6 for me, and at least we didnt have all the bacon, sausages and burgers to take home with us!

Connor with his first on Method - great to catch carp in the dark

A damp and gloomy dawn

One of the 3 I had in a 20 minute spell around dawn

And I finally got some on mixer before packing up for the day - 12lb 10oz
