Little Hayes Report

As I Mentioned Late Last Week Myself, Cindy And Banana Steve Visited Little Hayes At Todber Manor On Monday 1st August For 48hrs.

http://www.todbermanor.co.uk/

I Had Booked 3 Places From 12pm Monday Till 12pm Wednesday. We Visited Todber On The Sunday (31st July) For The Carpfest Show Featuring Korda, Delkim, Mainline, Trakker, Diawa And Aqua Products. While We Were There On Sunday We Asked If The Lake Was Busy Sunday Night To See If We Could Get On A Little Earlier On Monday, Thankfully There Was No One Night Fishing Sunday Night And Kia Said We Could Setup And Start Earlier If We Wanted. Steve Said He Would Get Down Earlier And Secure 3 Swims As We Couldnt Leave Till 11.30am Due To Waiting For Babysitter To Arrive. Steve Rung Me At 10.15am To Let Me Know The 3 Swims We Liked The Look Of On Sunday Had Anglers In Them. So I Said To Steve To Pick Were He Fancied And We Would Work Out Were We Fancied When We Turned Up. We Arrived At 12.45pm After A Quick Stop In The Tackle Shop To Find Steve Set Up And Just Casted In. Myself And Cindy Had A Walk Round And Decided On 2 Swims To The Left Of Steve.

We All Had A Good Feeling About The 48hrs On The Sunday But Now We Were On The Lake We Lost Our Confidence In Catching. It Was Very Hot And There Was No Fish Show Or Crashing.

Both Myself And Cindy Casted In Around 2pm And Waiting With Steve For The First Bite. I Didnt Feel Steve Was In For A Great Session Has He Had Set Himself In A Swim Right Opposite 2 Anglers That Got A Bit Spod Happy.

My First Run Came At 7pm And Turned Out To Be A 13lb 14oz Common. Fantastic Condition.

Nobody Else Had A Run Untill I Had A Run At 2am. This Resulted In A 10lb Common. Smallest Fish In The Lake As Apparently All The Fish In Little Hayes Are Between 10lb And 30lb.

Tuesday Morning I Woke To Cindy Sitting On Her Rods As She Had Been Getting Lines Bites From 5.30am But Nothing Came Of Them.

I Cooked Up Cindys Bacon Rolls And Then Started On Mine And Steve Bacon, Mushroom And Egg Rolls.

Late Tuesday Afternoon I Received My Third Run And That Resulted In A 11lb 2oz Common.

Just As It Turned To Evening Cindy Started Getting Bites And Decided To Strike Into One And Ended Up Hooking Into Her New PB. A 16lb 12oz Mirror. Needless To Say She Was Over The Moon.

Unfortunaly Nobody Got Another Run Or Fish. Steve Lost 2 Fish Early Tuesday Morning At 1am And 3am.

Steve Was Disappointed That He Had No Fish After 24hrs And To Be Honest I Was Disappointed Also After All The Hype Todber Make About This Lake. It Is Still A Very New Lake This Is The First Full Season The Lakes Been Open. The Margins Are Really Shallow And No Were Near Deep Enough To Land Fish We Caught Let Alone A 30lber Thats In There. The Lake Bottom Is Pure Clay Which Is Very Soft And Does Have Weed In There. There Is No Features On the Lake Bed But The Lake Does Have 2 Islands Unfortunaly The Self Around The Islands Is Shallower Than The Magins.

Big Hayes Looks A Lot More Mature And Shall Have To Give It Ago Or Many Be Coking Farm Which Is Just Down The Road.

Re: Little Hayes Report

Those fish look fantastic.

That said the surroundings look a little bleak, and it seems pretty pricey from what I can see on the website especially if there are so many swims on a small lake idiots with spods ruin your enjoyment.

Re: Little Hayes Report

£24 For 24 Hours. Expensive Couple Of Days For A Blank For Steve. Lake Looks A Reasonable Size Untill Your Set Up On It And Then There Are People Opposite You And Then Your Fishable Area Becomes Small And Cramped. It Deffinatly Looks Like A New Fishery, Give It Another 5 Years And It Will Look More Like Big Hayes. Big Hayes Looks Alot Nicer Lake And Wish I Had Booked Myself On There Now.
