| Catterick Lakes - Quickie!! Back to Catterick Lakes on Sunday morning for a quick half day session. Had a lay in for once so got to the bank about 9:30am. There was a match taking place on one side of the lake including my usual peg so I tried a totally new area which looked like it had plenty of promise. Simply took maggots and swimstim groundbait mixed with hemp. Set up the feeder rod and the pole, switching between them all morning. Baited and fished 5 swims - Margin, rat-hole and 1, 12 and 2 oclock at 8 metres and on the bottom. In the 4 hours I was there I had every type of fish in the lake - barring tench as I had missed them early birds. So, to sum it up and keep it quick (for once), bagged about 30lb of fish. Carp, F1,bream, roach, ide, perch! Packed away feeling good about myself as the three matchmen I could see from my peg hardly caught a thing!! I swear I could hear them cursing me every time I netted a fish. (New camera on the way so future reports might even have pictures) |

| Re: Catterick Lakes - Quickie!! It was, that lake is really fishing well at the moment, especially for the silverfish sport. Fished the club matches so far. Going to start entering opens soon but am just honing my match fishing skills at the minute. When I go to the commercials I have been fishing like you would in a match and learning to handle the pole smoothly and quickly, baiting methods and swim rotation etc. Its going well and I am catching well too so hopefully I will enter an open soon and see how I fair!! |
