Been a while It has been a while since I last posted a report and as I have managed to gain a few points I thought best to get my A**e into gear. Well over the last couple of weeks I have managed to fish our new club river and fish the clubs Carp qualifier match. The river report: The River Frome at Woolverton Somerset ![]() As you can see, this is great looking stretch of the River Frome. I have now fished this stretch 3 times and each time has been different. The first time was just after the season opened up and I found myself in the swim depicted in the photo above. On arrival at the river, there was a good steady pace, perfect for the Stick Float. So with conditions perfect all I had to do was catch a few fish and it wasn’t long before my first bite, a small but nice looking Roach. Bites were a bit far and few. But every now then I would get a good bite but miss it on the strike, after a while I did manage to strike into a fish and my question of why I was missing bites was answered, I was missing bites because the lightning reactions from the Dace in the strech. ![]() I had a good day there not as many fish as I hoped but at least I caught. And I even had another species for the hunt. A monster Minnow! ![]() My second trip saw me a swim upstream from the previous swim. This swim was deeper and the flow was a little slower than previous time. As before I found the bites a slow to begin with but instead of sticking with maggot I opted for meat as well. With a few Dace and Roach in the net caught on maggot I went over to the far bank with meat on the float to catch myself this 2lb 6oz Chub. ![]() My Third trip saw me back on the same peg and this time I only took meat and fished the pole on the far bank, I only managed one Chub of 11lb or so and a few good Dace. ![]() My Carp Match: The club over the last two years run a series qualifiers of Carp Matches with the top three going into a final being held at Little Hayes in September, each qualifier lasts 24hrs and with Crockerton not fishing its best at the moment the draw was always important. I drew Peg 1 for which I wasn’t to over pleased as I wanted one of the higher peg numbers. However, I bit the bullet and set myself up for the match. The match was hard I did however, catch fairly early in the match and produced this 13lb 4oz Common, ( more points as well) ![]() As the day wore on and moved into the evening, Cindy who was in peg 20 went into the lead with a13lb 8oz Common ![]() By the morning I had only had a few bleeps during the night but found myself in second place with Aiden Doven in third. As the morning wore on I managed to fluke a 4lb common to put me back in first. ![]() As to say I managed to win the qualifier, even though I didn’t fancy my chances at the start of the match. But one good thing came of all the trips I scored 4.5 points. __________________ Born to fish made to work

Re: Been a while Great To See The Clubs New Stretch Of The Frome Being Used. And Also Producing Some Fish. Good To See You Made The Best Of A Peg You Drew That I Know You Really Didnt Want. Funny How You Got The Peg Cindy Wanted And Cindy Got One Of The Peg U Wanted. At Least You Both Got Through To The Final.

Re: Been a while Looks like you had a great time. Those carp look in mint condition, and always nice to catch when fishing a small river. ![]()
