| A Few Trips to get some Species Hunt Points! Hi again all. Within the last week i've been trying to get as many points as i can. On Saturday i headed to a local river that not many people know about and trotted a nice deep run. Stick float and 2 white maggots... can you really go wrong? I had a few nice brownies which is 1.5 points! That's all i was after really but i also bagged a bonus sea trout, something i thought id struggle in getting.  The Sea Trout  The Brown Trout The next venue from the week was to a quarry close by to my house that is never fished by anyone, probably cause its REALLY dangerous. I only fish it if I've got my life jacket on! The target here was rudd and trout, ive saw trout in the quarry that are high single figures if not doubles! My friend landed one at 7lbs last year and was the most stunning brown trout that i have ever seen. Unfortunately the trout were not playing ball, i did however catch about 300 rudd which is another 1.5 points    The Rudd (i know its a bad photo but trust me its a rudd!  )On Tuesday night i target a nice still water that i have only ever fished in mid winter when it is mostly frozen. Its a real unknown as we hadn't really seen any movement of fish but we were almost sure there were fish in it cause it just looked that 'fishy'. Needless to say we didnt manage any pike but i was also fishing with the maggots that were left over from the other sessions. Too my surprise i got a few bites and ended up with another brownie! I just cant seem to get away from trout at the minute  Here is a video of the venue That was the last of the freshwater fishing for the week, however i did some more shore fishing which i will write a report later this evening. I see you can catch other fish other than pike Some nice trout, and I like the video too, particularly with the sun just over the horizon - non anglers dont realise what they are missing. Looks a bit of a hike up from the water too! |
